Health Dept. Inspects Ze Cafe -- Grade: B

Ze Cafe, a restaurant located at 398 East 52nd Street in New York City, relinquished 19 points on its latest routine inspection from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The more points deducted, the greater the problem in the kitchen. Nevertheless, they got a grade of B. The inspection occured on Tuesday March 13rd, 2012.
During the most recent inspection, three violations were identified. All of the violations were major. They were cited for food contact surface not properly washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use and following any activity when contamination may have occurred. Next they were cited for cold food item held above 41 degrees Farenheit (smoked fish and reduced oxygen packaged foods above 38 degrees Farenheit) except during necessary preparation. Finally, they were cited for evidence of mice or live mice present in facility's food and/or non-food areas.
On its previous inspection, it got a deduction of 38 points but no grade and had 3 violations. Over the three years for which we have published records, Ze Cafe has been written up for 23 violations.Tweet
